justnick's Diaryland Diary

I know what girls like

Hey Nick, you've been gone for a while now. What have you to show for it?

Well, funny you should ask, figment of my imagination. I've finally graduated, which is terrifying, and I've completed the first draft of a novel I feel like I've been working on since for ever. That's really pretty much it. I know, I'm dissapointed too.

I'll level with you, though. I came here for the same reason I always do: I am overcome with that sensation equidistant from self-pity and anger. Why, you ask? Well, I respond, you should clearly know by now, as I am a broken goddamn record.

I was having a wonderful night. Honestly, I was. Then Rob tells me "Emma's here."

I struggle valiantly not to make a face, but clearly I am no Galahad, because he soon adds "she gained weight."

She didn't gain weight. I mean, she gained bangs, which technically must weigh something, but he was just trying to make me feel better. She was as beautiful as ever.

Aren't they all.

Now here's the thing: there is no conceivable way that she would show up there not thinking I might rear my ugly head. So showing up in short shorts with three other guys... well, I doubt it was pre planned or anything, but the possibility that I would be there certainly crossed her mind.

I honestly don't know where I'm going with this, I do hope you aren't expecting some kind of narrative resolution here.

Sometimes I write to convince myself I have some sort of inherent value. You know?

Anyway, all this is to say that she was still beautiful, and I still found it very difficult to hold that-or anything else she's done-against her.

One day my prince will come, I know. But until then I still have my online diary to drive the ladies wild with.
